Focusing on Resources
- Students will be given a handout with several resources for different activities, such as the chart posted above. This helps filter the research to more reputable sites and gives direction to enhance group productivity
- Students are encouraged to seek out other resources during group work time or even at home.
- Technology will be available to students through the computer research center in the classroom.
- Although groups will have the choice of technologies to use for their presentation, this can be teacher-mediated through the use of this form asking students to detail their choice of presentation and justify their choice, asd well as writing any potential issues they may face. Once students have been given teacher permission to use their chosen presentation form, they may start creating their presentation.
Materials
- Basic Materials for students include handouts, writing utensils, measurement tools, and research
- Presentation materials may include poster board and art supplies
- Leaky Water Bottle experiment requires empty water bottles with small holes punched in the side, water, and a mess-friendly area.
- Materials for building the roller coaster model depend on the materials chosen. (For example, steel roller coaster designs will probably use PVC pipe, whereas wooden roller coaster designs will use rubber pipe)
